INDUSTRIAL PRODUCER PRICE INDICES: AUGUST 2022
Annual comparison
When compared to August 2021, the industrial producer price index increased by 3.64 per cent. Price increases
were registered in all the main industrial groupings except energy. The highest increase was registered in consumer
goods (8.54 per cent) followed by capital goods (3.27 per cent) and intermediate goods (1.63 per cent).
Industrial producer prices for the domestic market increased by 9.39 per cent. Price rises were recorded in the
intermediate goods (20.82 per cent), capital goods (14.68 per cent) and consumer goods (10.58 per cent).
Non-domestic prices increased by 0.10 per cent. The prices of goods destined to the non-euro area rose by 0.46
per cent while those destined to the euro area dropped by 0.60 per cent
Monthly comparison
During August 2022, the industrial producer price index increased by 0.65 per cent when compared to July 2022.
Consumer goods and capital goods rose by 3.15 per cent and 0.13 per cent respectively. A drop of 0.73 per cent
was recorded in the intermediate goods. There were no price changes in the energy sector.
Domestic market prices increased by 0.01 per cent due to an increase of 0.04 per cent in consumer goods.
Non-domestic prices increased by 1.08 per cent. The prices of goods destined to the non-euro area rose by 1.77
per cent while those destined to the euro area declined by 0.22 per cent.
