AI VET: Maltese Italian Chamber of Commerce as project leader to promote AI in SMEs
Another European initiative aims to innovate vocational training in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs): this is AI VET, a project funded by the Erasmus+ program designed to integrate artificial intelligence into technical and vocational training paths. The project is coordinated by the Maltese Italian Chamber of Commerce, represented by Federica Bovio as Deputy Secretary-General.
The project aims to disseminate knowledge and skills on artificial intelligence within the European educational fabric, offering specific teaching tools and training modules. The goal is ambitious: to bridge the AI skills gap in SMEs and training centers, to foster an inclusive and informed digital transformation.
Dr. Bovio explains the strategic importance of the initiative: «Artificial intelligence is becoming a fundamental asset for the future of businesses. With AI VET, we want to support the growth of practical and theoretical skills, responding to a growing demand for specialized training.»
The consortium consists of three partners: Vernian from Cyprus, Ascae from Italy, and the Maltese Italian Chamber of Commerce from Malta. Together, they are committed to making the new training modules accessible and applicable within small and medium-sized enterprises, which are often still lagging behind new technological challenges.
«It is not enough to know about artificial intelligence at a conceptual level – emphasizes the Deputy Secretary – it is essential to know how to apply it concretely in educational and professional contexts. AI VET offers practical materials, innovative courses, and tailor-made training opportunities.»
In an increasingly digital and competitive European context, AI VET presents itself as a key initiative to strengthen the technical capabilities and resilience of SMEs. The contribution of the partners guarantees an interdisciplinary approach, ranging from technical training to responsible innovation.
