cdc-w9KEokhajKw-unsplashEight new coronavirus cases were reported on Tuesday, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 38. The patients include a three-year-old boy.

The other patients include the boy’s parents and a woman who had been admitted to hospital for a fracture and developed the symptoms there. The woman may have had very brief contact with a healthcare worker who was later confirmed positive. The ward has been closed. Another patient who had been in the same ward tested negative. Other patients who may have been in contact with the same healthcare worker are being traced.

The other new cases are a Maltese woman who had been to the UK, a Maltese man  who may had contracted the virus from colleagues who had been abroad and  a man who had travelled abroad.

The last case was a 52-year-old Maltese man who had not been abroad and did not have contact with people abroad. Doctors are contact-tracing his work colleagues but the cause of the infection is currently unknown.
