Industrial Producer Price Indices in Malta: March 2022
During March 2022, the industrial producer price index registered an increase of 6.61 percent when compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.
Annual comparison
When compared to March 2021, the industrial producer price index increased by 6.61 percent. Price increases were registered in all the main industrial groupings except energy. The highest increase was registered in the intermediate goods (10.04 percent) followed by consumer goods (6.80 percent) and capital goods (3.11 percent).
Industrial producer prices for the domestic market increased by 7.27 percent. Price rises were recorded in the capital goods (19.07 percent), intermediate goods (15.30 per cent) and consumer goods (7.04 percent).
Non-domestic prices increased by 6.19 percent. Prices within the euro area rose by 6.28 percent while those within the non-euro area increased by 6.15 percent.
Monthly comparison
During March 2022, the industrial producer price index increased by 0.84 percent when compared to February 2022. Intermediate goods, capital goods and consumer goods rose by 1.84 percent, 0.38 percent and 0.01 percent respectively. There were no price changes in the energy sector.
Domestic market prices increased by 0.03 per cent due to rises in consumer goods (0.07 per cent) and in intermediate goods (0.04 percent). Non-domestic prices increased by 1.36 percent. Non-euro area prices increased by 1.84 percent while those in the euro area rose by 0.45 percent.
