Industrial Producer Price Indices: March 2023
During March 2023, the industrial producer price index registered an increase of 3.95 per cent when compared to the corresponding month of 2022.
Annual comparison
When compared to March 2022, the industrial producer price index increased by 3.95 per cent. Price increases were registered in the capital goods (10.19 per cent) and in the consumer goods (8.90 per cent). On the other hand, a drop of 0.20 per cent was recorded in the intermediate goods. No price change occurred in the energy sector.
Industrial producer prices for the domestic market increased by 2.78 per cent. Price rises were recorded in the consumer goods (7.54 per cent), in the capital goods (2.59 per cent) and in the intermediate goods (0.85 per cent).
Non-domestic prices increased by 4.72 per cent. The prices of goods destined to the non-euro area rose by 4.97 per cent while those destined to the euro area increased by 4.24 per cent (Table 2).
Monthly comparison
During March 2023, the industrial producer price index increased by 0.44 per cent when compared to February 2023. Capital goods and intermediate goods went up by 1.43 per cent and 0.84 per cent respectively. On the other hand, consumer goods declined by 0.36 per cent. There were no price changes in the energy sector.
Domestic market prices went down by 0.31 per cent due to a drop of 1.31 per cent in the intermediate goods. On the contrary, an increase of 0.05 per cent was registered in the consumer goods. No price changes were registered in the capital goods sector.
Non-domestic prices increased by 0.94 per cent. The prices of goods destined to the non-euro area rose by 1.24 per cent while those destined to the euro area increased by 0.36 per cent (Table 3).
