MALTA: Industrial Producer Price Indices - July 2023
In the month of July 2023, the industrial producer price index registered an increase of 3.8 percent compared to the corresponding month of 2022.
Annual Comparison
Compared to July 2022, the industrial producer price index increased by 3.8 percent. Price increases were recorded in consumer goods (7.5 percent), capital goods (4.8 percent), and intermediate goods (2.1 percent). There was no price change in the energy sector.
Industrial producer prices for the domestic market increased by 1.2 percent. Price rises were recorded in consumer goods (5.2 percent) and in capital goods (2.6 percent). Conversely, intermediate goods decreased by 2.4 percent.
Non-domestic prices increased by 5.6 percent. Prices of goods destined for the non-euro area rose by 6.5 percent, while those destined for the euro area increased by 3.9 percent.
Monthly Comparison
In July 2023, the industrial producer price index decreased by 0.1 index points. Capital goods declined by 0.5 percent, while intermediate goods rose by 0.1 percent.
The overall domestic market price did not change, while non-domestic prices decreased by 0.1 percent. Prices of goods destined for the euro area decreased by 0.3 percent, while those destined for the non-euro area increased by 0.1 percent.
