Malta: Industrial Producer Price Indices October 2022
During October 2022, the industrial producer price index registered an increase of 5.47 per cent when compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.
Annual comparison When compared to October 2021, the industrial producer price index increased by 5.47 per cent. Price increases were registered in all the main industrial groupings except energy. The highest increase was registered in the consumer goods (9.29 per cent) followed by intermediate goods (6.17 per cent) and capital goods (1.07 per cent). Industrial producer prices for the domestic market increased by 8.67 per cent. Price rises were recorded in the intermediate goods (18.70 per cent), consumer goods (13.20 per cent) and capital goods (2.46 per cent). Non-domestic prices increased by 3.48 per cent. The prices of goods destined to the non-euro area rose by 4.61 per cent while those destined to the euro area increased by 1.29 per cent (Table 2). Monthly comparison During October 2022, the industrial producer price index increased by 1.20 per cent when compared to September 2022. Intermediate goods increased by 2.05 per cent, whilst capital and consumer goods both went up by 0.76 per cent. There were no price changes in the energy sector. Domestic market prices increased by 0.30 per cent due to an increase of 1.73 per cent in the consumer goods and a decline of 0.93 per cent in the intermediate goods. Non-domestic prices increased by 1.80 per cent. The prices of goods destined to the non-euro area rose by 2.10 per cent while those destined to the euro area increased by 1.20 per cent (Table 3)
