In 2022, the supplied electrical energy amounted to 2,880.9 GWh, showing an increase of 7.8 percent compared to the previous year. In 2022, the gross production of electrical energy from power plants and renewable sources was 2,293.5 GWh. The month of July recorded the highest gross production quantity with 249.0 GWh.

The electricity production from power plants increased by 2.3 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 1,996.5 GWh. The production of energy from renewable sources increased by 12.9 percent, reaching 297.0 GWh in 2022. The majority of renewable energy (97.5 percent) was produced by photovoltaic panels.

Throughout 2022, a total of 646.1 GWh was imported through the interconnector, marking an 18.1 percent increase compared to the previous year.

The month of July (318.8 GWh) recorded the highest electricity supply quantity in 2022, accounting for 11.1 percent. It was followed by the month of August (317.2 GWh) with an 11.0 percent share of the supplied electricity quantity.

July and August saw the highest electricity demand in 2022, with 581 MW and 575 MW respectively. The average annual demand recorded in 2022 was 473 MW, showing an 8.0 percent increase compared to the previous year.

In 2022, greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the combustion of fuels in power plants increased by 3.1 percent compared to the situation in 2021.
