INDICATORI DEI SERVIZI A BREVE TERMINE Q12023In 2023, Malta experienced a 5.3 percent increase in the number of employed individuals, reaching a total of 291,756. The unemployment rate was estimated at 8,585, while there were 163,113 inactive individuals.

Among males aged 15 to 64, the employment rate stood at 83.8 percent, while for females it was slightly lower at 71.4 percent.

The majority of employed individuals, totaling 256,592, worked full-time, while 35,164 had a part-time job as their primary employment.

The average annual basic salary varied across different occupations. Managers earned an average of €2,995, while those in elementary occupations earned €1,189.

Out of the employed population, 35.0 percent had attained a tertiary level of education.

The unemployment rate remained stable at 2.9 percent.

The main reason for inactivity among individuals was retirement, accounting for 42.4 percent of the inactive population.

Overall, these statistics demonstrate a positive growth in employment and a relatively low unemployment rate in Malta during the year 2023.
