Malta: Registered unemployed 2023 -2.6%
In October 2023, the number of persons registering for work stood at 959 decreasing by 25 persons when compared to the corresponding month in 2022.
Data provided by Jobsplus for October 2023 indicate a year-on-year decrease of 12 persons and 13 persons registering under Part I and under Part II of the unemployment register respectively. Increases in the registered unemployment levels were recorded in the majority of the age groups; excluding the 20-24 and 30-44.
A year-on- year decrease of 38 persons and 13 persons was recorded among those registering for work for 21 to 52 weeks and for over one year respectively. On the other hand, the number of persons registering for work for under 21 weeks increased by 26.
In October 2023, the number of persons with a disability who were registering for work increased by 21 when compared to the previous year, reaching 240 persons. Males accounted for 77.5 per cent of total registrants with a disability.
The largest share of males and females on the unemployment register sought occupations as Clerical support workers, with 23.0 per cent and 45.8 per cent respectively.
