Registered Employment: December 2022

NSO_-_Registered_Employment_December_2022_1.jpgIn December 2022, registered full-time employment increased by 8.4 per cent, while part-time employment as a primary job increased by 3.3 per cent when compared to December 2021

 Administrative data provided by Jobsplus show that, over a period of one year, the labour supply (excluding part-timers) increased by 8.3 per cent, reaching 263,807 (see methodological note 5). This was mainly attributed to a year-on-year increase in the full-time registered employment (20,256) and a decrease in registered unemployment (121) (Table 1). 

Registered full-time employment  

During December 2022, Administrative and support service activities  (NACE 77-82, 4,751) and  Accommodation and food service activities (NACE 55-56, 3,342) contributed mostly to the increase in employment, when compared to December 2021 (Table 1). Registered full-time employment in the private sector went up by 20,705 persons to 211,724. Public sector full-time employment decreased by 449 persons to 51,037 (Table 2). 

The number of persons registered as full-time self-employed rose by 597 when compared to December 2021, while the number of persons registered as employees increased by 19,659. Full-time employment for males and females went up by 8.9 per cent and 7.5 per cent, respectively over 2021 levels (Table 2).

Registered part-time employment  

Registered part-time employment in December 2022 increased by 6.5 per cent when compared to the corresponding month in 2021. The sectors that contributed to the overall increase were Professional, scientific and technical activities (NACE 69-75, 882) followed by Transportation and storage sector (NACE 49-53, 715) (Table 3). 

The number of part-timers who also held a full-time job amounted to 38,700 up by 9.5 per cent, when compared to the corresponding month in 2021. Employed persons whose part-time job was their primary occupation totalled 33,349 up by 3.3 per cent when compared to the same month in 2021 (Table 4).
