Registered Employment: March-April 2022

In April 2022, registered full-time employment increased by 5.2 per cent
while part-time employment as a primary job increased by 6.4 per cent when

compared to April 2021.

Registered Employment: March-April 2022

Administrative data provided by Jobsplus show that, over a period of one year till April 2022, the labour supply (excluding part-timers) increased by 4.7 per cent, reaching 250,127. This was mainly attributed to a year-on-year increase in the full-time registered employment (12,403) and a decrease in registered unemployment (1,285).
Registered full-time employment

During April 2022, the accommodation and food services activities (NACE 55-56, 2,289) and the administrative and support service activities (NACE 77-82, 1,652) contributed mostly to the increase in employment, when compared to April 2021. Registered full-time employment in the private sector went up by 12,236 persons to 198,037. Public sector full-time employment increased by 167 persons to 51,127.
The number of persons registered as full-time self-employed rose by 815 when compared to April 2021,
while the number of persons registered as employees increased by 11,588.

Full-time employment for males and females went up by 5.1 per cent and 5.5 per cent, respectively over 2021 levels.
Registered part-time employment

Registered part-time employment in April 2022 increased by 9.7 per cent when compared to a year earlier.

The sectors that contributed to the overall increase were the professional, scientific and technical activities (NACE 69-75, 1,003) followed by the accommodation and food services activities (NACE 55-56, 940).
The number of part-timers who also held a full-time job amounted to 37,555 up by 12.9 per cent, when
compared to the corresponding month in 2021. Employed persons whose part-time job was their primary occupation totalled 33,126, up by 6.4 per cent when compared to the same month in 2021.
